Principal Harris of DMS was kind enough to send this info along so that if you see lots of emergency vehicles at the school on Friday, you won't need to worry:
Dumbarton Middle’s Thin Blue Line Lunch Bunch to host end of year celebration Group, founded by School Resource Officer, supports students interested in becoming first responders
What: Earlier this school year, Ofc. J.J. Ballard, the school resource officer at Dumbarton Middle School, created a ‘lunch bunch’ for students interested in careers in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services. First responders are invited to participate in the group’s end-of-year celebration and to share their experiences with students.
When: Friday, June 7, from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Where: Dumbarton Middle School
Background: In October, Ofc. Ballard started the Thin Blue Line Lunch Bunch at Dumbarton Middle to give students an opportunity to learn more about law enforcement. The groups are held on the first Friday of each month during all three lunch shifts and are open to all students. As students’ questions and the size of the group grew, Ofc. Ballard began inviting in others to speak, including Ofc. Hippensteel from the CRASH team and Ofc. Tilghman from the Police Explorer program. The Lunch Bunch began with just three students and now has more than 60 members. Students bring their own lunches, but Ofc. Ballard provides additional snacks, with some funding from the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Towson Police Community Relations Council.
