Representatives from BGE's Operation Pipeline will be at the next board meeting (7PM on May 9 at Dumbarton Middle) to provide updates to the next stage of the process. See map below.

And, the 2018 State Budget includes $3 million for new athletic fields at Towson University.  One field located adjacent to Rodgers Forge homes will be converted from natural grass to synthetic turf.  The field situated between the softball fields and tennis courts will be used for field hockey and other athletics after conversion. Representatives from Towson University will also attend the May 9 meeting to share plans and entertain questions regarding this project.

Again, please note the meeting will be held at DUMBARTON MIDDLE SCHOOL at 7pm on May 9. All RF residents are welcome to attend.

Hey Rodgers Forgians: We have created a neighborhood Teen Selfie Scavenger Hunt for the RFCA Annual Picnic, which is Saturday, June 9 from 4-7p.
Participants must have a phone (or other device capable of taking selfies) and the ability to run around the neighborhood in search of the items on the list.
Prizes will be awarded to the team that gets the most items on the list within 1 hour.

We've heard from people with concerns about the fact that the Rodgers Forge newsletters are delivered in plastic bags, which generally end up in landfills. So the April/May 2018 newsletter, which is in the process of being delivered, will be bag free. 
If this ends up being a problem for some reason, we will re-think it. We are also exploring fewer paper newsletters and relying more on the website and emails. 
PS: Don't forget to recycle your newsletter after reading!

Police say:


Officers in PC06 have been receiving complaints recently from Residents along Aigburth Rd who are receiving a fraudulent telephone message from an unknown person identifying himself as a “Sgt. Jackson” of the Baltimore County Sheriff’s Office. In the message “Sgt. Jackson” is advising the Person that they have missed their scheduled Jury Duty date and they now need to pay a fine as instructed by this “Sergeant”.


This is a false message being sent, it is not coming from the Baltimore County Sheriff’s Office nor is it authorized by the Administrative Judge of the Baltimore County Circuit Court. Please let your Family, Friends and Neighbors know that should they receive such a telephone message not to respond to it, make no payments to “Sgt. Jackson” but instead contact 9-1-1 so that Our Officers can respond to investigate.

I would like to thank the board members and community members who spent many hours helping at events this weekend, and many hours preparing for those events. 
Dumpster Day volunteers: 
  • RFCA board member Melanie Bell, who hauled donated items all day
  • RFCA board member Beth Foster, who got up early to buy donuts and coffee for the volunteers
  • RFCA board member Bill Shaughnessy, who helped load the dumpsters 
  • RFCA board member Jessica Watkins, who helped day of
  • RFCA board member Amanda Kastner, who spent many hours organizing Dumpster Day and doing the loads of paperwork that accompany it, and overseeing everything day of
  • RFCA board member Karen Rodriguez, who helped secure the location
  • Pastor John Ballenger and manager Leisl Bolin, who allowed us to use Woodbrook Church
  • Amanda's husband, Paul Kastner, and her two sons, who helped load the dumpsters, and her daughter who helped take donations 
  • My husband and two kids who helped with loading and donations 
  • And RFCA resident Coach Rob Ambrose, who brought his son and a lot of Towson University football players to load the dumpsters
Egg Hunt volunteers: 
  • RFCA board member Noah Melnick, who organized the egg hunt and spent countless hours filling the plastic eggs and getting supplies to and from the storage locker, and who set up and took down the tents, tables, etc. 
  • RFCA board member Karen Rodriguez, who purchased the candy, helped organize, and helped day of, along with her kids, who also helped 
  • RFCA board member Jen Dippel, who shot photos and generally helped day of 
  • RFCA board member Naomi Cross and her husband and son who helped day of
  • RFCA board member Amanda Kastner and her husband, Paul, who helped day of and also brought tables and other supplies to the event and back to the storage locker
  • RFCA board member Phil Lipscomb, who was the man responsible for getting the Easter Bunny to be at the event
  • Rachel Morris, who helped organize, filled loads of eggs, and worked day of
  • Ivana Lipscomb, who helped organize 
  • RFCA board member Jessica Watkins, and residents Debi Parker Keating and Dora Jacobs, who helped stuff eggs
  • Jean Ottey, who provided coffee and treats
  • My husband and son who helped set up and clean up
  • and RFCA board member Linda Gimignani who hand washed 1,300 (!!!!!) plastic eggs in preparation for the event
Our next event is the Annual Picnic, which will be Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Tot Lot starting at 4:00 PM. 
These events are one of the things that makes Rodgers Forge so special, and we appreciate the community's support!

Here is a message from Baltimore County Police that was sent a few years ago but is still relevant today. 
With the fall of snow comes the display of lawn furniture and other household items along the curbsides of our streets, the need to clear our walkways of the snow and the influx of many telephone complaints to our 9-1-1 system, Precinct and Outreach Office in reference to these issues. 
Please get the word out to your residents and any businesses that may be part of your community that they are responsible for removing the snow from the sidewalks that are part of their property.  I understand when the snow is deep and the plows pile more on top as they clear the roads that this is not an easy task but it is one that needs to be undertaken anyway. 
The sooner we clear the sidewalks the safer it is for pedestrians and school children waiting for the bus.  As for those communities that have many vehicles parked along the street, please remind everyone that once they pull their vehicle away from the curb that spot is now available to the next driver who comes along looking for a parking spot. 
Public roads are just that--PUBLIC--meaning that an open parking spot along the curb is open to anyone who comes along.  I know that parking is a premium in communities such as Rodgers Forge, Ridgeleigh, Loch Raven and Anneslie to name a few here in Towson, but there are many other similar communities throughout Baltimore County and the City that face the same exact dilemma every time it snows. 
I recognize how time consuming and strenuous it is to dig one's vehicle out of the snow and then to not have that space available upon returning is frustrating but everyone needs to understand that's what happens in large residential communities that have limited parking which includes parking on the street. 
Placing lawn furniture or other items in the street to "save" one's spot is actually a violation of State Law, these items are "foreign materials" and it is illegal to place such items in the roadway.  Residents need to know that once they move their vehicle from the parking space it is no longer their space; their space is where ever they park when they return. 
Leaving unfriendly, angry, threatening notes on a vehicle that occupies a vacated space or actual verbal/physical confrontations are not acceptable and could lead to further Police involvement and actions.  So please inform your residents to do the right things during snowy weather and avoid the wrong things and before you know it Mother Nature is smiling down upon us once again as the calenders read June, July and August and the thermometers show 100 degree temperatures.

UPDATE AT 1:30 PM ON MARCH 25: We are still on!!! 
The Egg Hunt is on for Sunday, March 25! See you at the Tot Lot. Starts at 2:00 PM. The Easter Bunny will be there to say Hi and for photo opps with the kids! 
We'll start with the youngest age group (1-2 years), then the 3-4 year olds, then the 5-7 year olds, then 8-10 year olds. It will be in about 10-20 minute increments.

Dumpster Day will be Saturday, March 24, 2018, starting at 8AM at Woodbrook Baptist Church, 25 Stevenson Lane.  It will go until noon or when the dumpsters and trucks are full, whichever comes first. 
Please note the new location. The county did not have Dumpsters for us on the days that RFES was available, so we are thankful that Woodbrook was kind enough to let us use their front parking lot. 
This is a rain-or-shine event. In addition to garbage bins for trash and yard waste and metals, AmVets will be there for household donations, and The Loading Dock will collect your reusable building-material donations. See details below.
The following types of materials are not accepted at Dumpster Day: Batteries, oils, gasoline or gas containers, paints, tires, propane tanks
There will not be electronics recycling; Towson University is having an e-cycling event that day.
AmVets will accept clothing, housewares, toys in bags or boxes. They will also accept furniture that has no rips, stains or tears.
The Loading Dock will accept:
Appliances - 5 years old or less
Cabinetry - kitchen/bath sets and singles
Garden Supplies
Flooring - ceramic, wood,
New carpet and linoleum
Lighting and Ceiling Fans
Lumber, Plywood, & Moulding - over 4 feet, no nails
Plumbing - toilets, sinks, tubs, radiators
Roofing - rolled roofing, shingles, gutters and downspouts
Windows - thermal pane
They will not accept paint, hazardous materials or used carpeting.
